When we are watching for the Holy Spirit at work, it never ceases to amaze me how present the Holy Spirit is. Each week as I prepare to meet the people at Table Grace for the noon discussion, I spend some time praying that God will bring to the table whoever needs to be present that day, to either listen, or offer their insights, or eat, or simply be in fellowship with those around the table.
We have been meeting now nearly every Thursday since January of 2013. The group is almost always slightly varied in who shows up each week. Sometimes it is two of us, sometimes three, sometimes seven or eight. Yesterday was no exception to the unpredictability and intense presence of the Holy Spirit. As stories are shared, and questions are asked, Christ is present in the midst of us.
That’s what draws me back each week. The anticipation of who will be there, and how God will work in the lives of the people and reveal Himself ever more through each of us gathered and sent into the world. I believe that God is transforming hearts, minds and spirits all around this earth. Table Grace is one small slice of the work that God is about. It is a privilege to witness our great God at work each week in this way.
