A big thank you to all who attended and coordinated the WELCA event held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church last Saturday. It was fun to reconnect with some familiar faces from across the Omaha metro area and meet some new ones.
Yesterday was the beginning of the next phase of writing the Table Grace musical. We are currently collecting information from regular patrons of Table Grace to hear stories and ways that Table Grace has impacted their lives. As the stories are put together and the characters are created, the plan is to write music around the theme of “Who am I”. And the evolution of who each person thinks they are as they enter Table Grace, based on thoughts, joy, pain, circumstances, labels, addictions, past mistakes, place in life, depression, bi-polar, homelessness, isolation, emptiness of the “pursuit of happiness” and how that transforms into who they really are which is the essence of who all of us really are, under all of our layers and masks, Light, Love, Grace, Connectedness.
Here is a taste of the song in progress;
Who am I, am I the story that I tell myself?
Who am I, am I the things that I have stumbled through?
Who am I, am I the failures that I can’t undo?
None of this is really who I am, the story that is written will begin.
Grace is the way we operate
Giving each one another break.
Seeing each face with fresh new eyes,
Even though the culture would despise.
This is not by our own will
The Holy Spirit leads us still.
Opening doors we cannot alone,
Providing a place for rejects to call home.
