Here’s a scene from last week’s café experience. Tuesday, the musicians and singers gathered in the basement of Table Grace to rehearse. Two drummers, one on a conga, one on a donated snare, a piano playing missionary who is soon returning to Guatemala, a singer who has now brought forward his skills as a comedian and harmonica player, a participant who has never before been to the Tuesday music with a mission, but happened to come by that day to tell everyone goodbye because he will be taking a job in a different city. It was a moment in time, most likely not ever to be repeated in the exact same way. And in fact until that moment, it was highly unlikely that all the people present would actually be there. Sacred space and time was shared as we reflected on the distance all the people would go before we perhaps gather again around music and Spirit.
Every moment is quite like that, a gift to be celebrated. Presence of the Divine flowing through the people that gather, or the person that sits alone and ponders the vastness of the universe in which God is present in the breath flowing. I hope you have time to reflect on moments of the Divine Presence in your self, your life and your community in this day and week to come.
