Many of you have heard me talk over the last year about writing a musical. And while I have been talking about it a lot, and writing as often as I can, I really had no idea how to actually put together a musical which would express and tell the story that I sense needs to be told. I can see it in my head, and I have the essence of what the underlying message of it all will be. But getting from point A (in my head, and a whole jumbled mess of pages) to the stage with full production has seemed like an ocean far too wide to cross alone.
I have hope now that we are moving toward the realization of said production. Matt and I have recently met and talked with a friend of ours who has been involved in writing such musicals and other stage productions. And he really gets what’s going on at Table Grace. As he observed the comings and goings of the café this past Tuesday, it was interesting to hear his observations of Table Grace and all of the nuances of the people interactions. As he was sitting there observing, it was almost as if he could create the characters based on what he heard without ever really knowing their stories.
Creativity is an exciting and messy process. It is a gift to participate in the life of Table Grace and all of the people gathering and being sent each and every day. I look forward to the unfolding of this creative journey, whether it takes 6 months or 9 more years, and I would invite you to be involved in whatever way you can be. Come eat at Table Grace, share your stories of who you are and how Table Grace has affected your life, pray for our process, and eventually, come and see the show!
