It’s Monday, we had a great day of rest yesterday. We had the day off from recording. Headed to downtown Nashville to enjoy the sights and sounds of a variety of live musicians’ music wafting out from every other venue on Broadway (in Nashville). We found our way to a Nashville sign that we remembered from years ago, and took a new family picture there.
Today we will be venturing to the studio again, I will sing on the song “Walked anyway” and then the remainder of the day will be spent on Matt’s singing and trumpet……..(later)
The day went extremely well. We wrapped everything up at about 5pm. It is such a relief and joy that we have made it this far in the recording journey. Many of you that know me well have been through seasons over the years when I have lost my voice. Since college there have been a couple of weeks here and there where it just goes away for a while. I’d say of any anxiety from this entire process that was the most prominent, because I have no control over when it leaves me and when it returns. Recording in Nashville made it a very specific period of time to work with in the studio and I have had low grade anxiety that my voice would leave me this week for about a year. However, a week or two ago when both Alexandra and Hope got the summer cold (and I thought oh here we go), I had decided that if we got here and the voice disappeared, I would just fly back later and finish the vocals. (I had won a free plane ticket at the ALDE conference in Reno in February).
I am more than relieved that we got to this side of it and my voice was in the best condition it could be. I appreciate all of you that were praying for our safety, our health and the transformative impact of the music on the mission of Table Grace and all who experience the music. It is really a gift of grace to see this dream becoming reality.
Thank you to the team at Morning Star for leading in our absence. I have heard reports that you all did very well! Thank you again to Morning Star Lutheran, our home congregation in Omaha for the support of Table Grace and our recording journey. We feel very blessed to have you all along on this journey with us.
Thank you to the team at Table Grace who continues to be present in downtown Omaha while we are on this journey. We appreciate you all very much!
In case you are still wondering when the recording will be ready to hear, keep this in mind. We don’t even know for sure. Now that we have completed our recording, our producer, Dennis, has some things to add, mixing to do, and then we send it to mastering. In the mean time, we are going to be figuring out the cover art, and starting to think about a CD release concert. It could be fall, could be Christmas, could be next Spring as we celebrate 5 years of Table Grace Café. It all depends on how quickly these other pieces come together.
